The national winner and runner-up awards are presented annually to two Modern Woodmen members who have provided outstanding volunteer service in the community and excellent leadership in their local chapters and youth service clubs throughout the previous year. Modern Woodmen has more than 750,000 members nationwide.
For this honor, Clark received a recognition award and a $250 donation to the charity of her choice, the St. Jude’s Hospital Midwest affiliate in Peoria.
Clark is an active Modern Woodmen youth service club leader and member of the Smithfield Modern Woodmen Chapter. She and her youth club members performed many local volunteer service activities during the past year, including:
Making cards for veterans in Quincy.
Conducting a food drive in Cuba.
Planting a tree at Cuba Middle-Senior High School.
Hosting Bingo games at the Cuba Senior Citizens Center.
Participating in Join Hands Day and Make A Difference Day community improvement projects.
In addition to her Modern Woodmen volunteer roles, Clark serves as president of the Cuba Spoon River Jaycees. Through this role, she helped start Cuba’s Closet, a clothing swap program serving Fulton County and surrounding areas, and a Trunk or Treat event, a safe alternative to Halloween trick-or-treating.
Smithfield Modern Woodmen Chapter Activities Coordinator Kathy Ford nominated Clark for the award.
