Race to Knock Out Hunger

Modern Woodmen of America's Race to Knock Out Hunger

​Join Modern Woodmen for a Quad City community 5K run, walk and fun run!
Stretch out those hamstrings and choose to run or walk a 5K through the District of Rock Island, Ill. Kids, ages 10 and under, can participate in a free fun run!

Proceeds from the race will be donated to River Bend Foodbank, a non-profit organization in the Quad Cities that provides food assistance to 22 counties in Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois.

  • When: Saturday, Sept. 20.
    Race begins at 9:00 am (Runners/walkers plan to arrive by 8:00).
    Kids fun run is scheduled to begin at 8:30.
  • Where: The District of Rock Island, Ill.
  • Entry Fee:
    • 5k Run and Walk early bird rate:  $30.
    • 5k Run and Walk after Sept. 8:    $35.
    • Kids Fun Run: FREE.
  • Awards:
    • Modern Woodmen Bank Visa Gift Cards will be awarded to the top three male/female winners.
    • Awards for all age division winners. Age divisions include: 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and up.
    • Participants in the Kids Fun Run will receive a commemorative souvenir

Registration will be open from June 1 to Sept. 20.  Registration for the FREE Kids Fun Run is available, but not required.
Make sure to pick up your race packets at Modern Woodmen Bank, 100 17th Street, Suite 101, Rock Island, Ill. on Friday, Sept. 19 between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. (across the street from Bennigan's).
Runners and walkers are also able to pick up their race packets on the day of the race.  Race day packet pick-up will be available from 7:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
All registered Race participants will receive a timing chip when you receive your Race bib.
The route starts off in the heart of downtown Rock Island and loops through historic Rock Island neighborhoods before finishing along 18th street, facing the mighty Mississippi River. The starting and finish lines are located at the intersection of 18th street and 2nd Avenue (near Blue Cat Brewpub). 
Runners will be positioned at the front of the starting line.  Walkers will be positioned behind all runners.  Water stations will be set up along the course.
*For the safety of all participants, roller blades and pets are discouraged from participating in this event. Strollers are allowed, but must line up toward the back of the crowd. Thank you for your cooperation!

Ample parking will be available at Modern Woodmen’s Printing and Shipping building, located at 2015 2nd Avenue, Rock Island.

Street parking will also be available in the District of Rock Island. On-street parking is
designated as either unlimited free parking or a two-hour brown parking zone. The exceptions are metered spaces, 5- and 30-minute spaces and loading zones.

Modern Woodmen will supply runners with refreshments immediately following the race.
In the event of severe weather, the race may be delayed or canceled. If the race is canceled, there will be NO REFUNDS. All proceeds will be given to River Bend Foodbank.
