High school seniors who are Modern Woodmen members can apply for one of 39 scholarships and 100 additional awards presented annually. These include:
Each year national scholarships of $16,000 will be awarded to three winners chosen from all qualifying applicants. Scholarship funds are distributed equally over four years of $4,000 per year for undergraduate study at the accredited college or university of the student’s choice.

Thirty-six regional scholarships are also awarded annually to six winners selected in each of six geographic regions of the United States. Regional scholarship winners receive awards of $12,000, $11,000, $10,000, $9,000, $8,000 or $7,000, distributed equally over four years.

One-time, $500 awards are presented to 100 students, selected randomly from remaining qualified applicants.

A student eligible to apply for a college scholarship must be:
- A secondary school senior. (A senior is defined as any student who will graduate between Jan. 1 and Aug. 31 in the year in which the scholarship is initially awarded.)
- A beneficial member of Modern Woodmen as of Sept. 30, 2012. (The benefit certificate held by the student must be a life insurance contract on a premium-paying basis or must be paid up according to the terms of the certificate other than through use of the nonforfeiture option.)
- In the upper half of his or her graduating class.
Applications for 2015 seniors were due Jan. 1, 2015.
