Which browsers work best?
For best results, we recommend Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5.0 or higher. If you use America Online, we recommend version 5.0 or higher. For Netscape, we recommend versions 4.5 or higher.


Other browser issues

Only part of a page loads
If a page doesn’t load properly, click Reload or Refresh in your browser’s tool bar. If the problem remains, clear the Temporary Internet files in your browser.

A page becomes blank after you resize the window
Browsers sometimes lose displayed information when they are resized. Click Reload or Refresh, or close the browser window and reopen it.

“Document contains no data” error message
Corrupt files within Netscape’s disk cache can sometimes cause this. Clear the Temporary Internet files in your browser.

Why am I having problems with America Online?
If you have problems using our Web site through AOL, try opening Microsoft Internet Explorer separately as follows:

1. Connect to the Internet, as you normally would, and then minimize your AOL window.

2. Double click the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop. You can also open Internet Explorer by clicking Start in the lower left corner of the screen and selecting Internet Explorer from the Programs menu.

3. Once Internet Explorer opens, type in the address window and hit Enter.

Does Modern Woodmen send cookies to my computer?
Modern Woodmen of America may send cookies (small text files) to users so they can navigate securely on the site and so certain sections are personalized to serve your needs. You must accept each cookie in order to proceed. To avoid constant warnings you may want to set your browser to accept cookies without notification or warning. To do that:

Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher:

1. Select: Tools > Internet Options > Security > Custom Level.
2. Enable: “Allow cookies that are stored on your computer” and “Allow per-session cookies (not stored).”

Netscape 4.0 or higher:

1. Select: Edit > Preferences > Advanced.
2. Enable Accept all Cookies (to the right).

'Certificate authority is expired' message
Notice to Netscape Communicator version 4.05 or earlier and Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 for Macintosh users:

Did you encounter a dialog box stating 'Certificate Authority Is Expired' when you tried to access one of our secure pages?

Simply click Continue: The SSL session that secures your transaction with our site is not affected.

You can avoid the dialog box in the future by upgrading your browser.

PDF file help
Modern Woodmen of America’s Web site contains many PDF files. A PDF file is a Portable Document File. There are two ways for you to view these PDF files using this Internet site. You can view it online or download a copy to your hard drive. Each option, however, requires you to have a copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader® 4.0 on your computer’s hard drive. If you do not have Acrobat Reader® 4.0 on your hard drive, click on the Acrobat Reader icon.

To view a PDF

You must already have Acrobat Reader installed on your computer system to view any PDFs.

If you view a PDF online, you are opening a version of Acrobat Reader inside your Web browser. Viewing PDFs by this method will require you to be logged on to Modern Woodmen of America’s Web site each time you view the file. 

To download a PDF
With this option, you can view a PDF file directly from your hard drive. Downloading takes more steps that viewing it online. However, once it is on your hard drive, you will not need to access Modern Woodmen of America’s Web site to view the PDF.

1. Right Click on the PDF link
2. Click on Save Target As. The file will begin downloading
3. When the Save As Window opens, select the desired file location and file name and click
    Save. Remember where you store this file and the name of the file.
4. When you receive the "Download Complete" message, Click OK.
5. Then, to view the PDF file from your hard drive 
    a. Open Adobe Acrobat Reader® 
    b. While in Acrobat Reader, click File, Open and then locate the PDF file. The file will be located where you stored it in Step 3.

Please Note: PDF files on Modern Woodmen of America’s Web site will be updated and changed from time to time. Only viewing a PDF file will ensure you have the latest version. If you choose to download a file to your computer, please check back for newer versions.
