Modern Woodmen Honor Flight brings WWII vets to D.C.
Modern Woodmen joined forces with Honor Flight of the Quad Cities to fly 100 World War II veterans to Washington, D.C., during the National Convention.
The veterans and their volunteer guardians toured the WWII, Korean and Vietnam War memorials, saw the Lincoln and Women's memorials and visited Arlington National Cemetery on June 28. They were honored with a heroes salute at the June 29 convention session, and then visited the Air Force and Iwo Jima memorials and the National Museum of the Marine Corps before returning home.
The national Honor Flight Network's mission is to honor all veterans for their sacrifices with a free trip to visit their memorial. Senior veterans get top priority.
