Massey named president and CEO; Coin named to board
Modern Woodmen of America’s Board of Directors has appointed W. Kenny Massey, LeClaire, Iowa, as the fraternal organization's 11th president and CEO, effective June 1. Massey succeeds Clyde C. Schoeck, Milan, Ill., who retired on May 31 after 40 years of service with Modern Woodmen, eight as president.
Massey has worked for Modern Woodmen for 23 years, starting his career as a representative in Mississippi in 1982. He was promoted to district manager in 1985 and was named manager of the organization’s western Louisiana agency in 1988. Massey moved to the Quad Cities to become Modern Woodmen’s director of agencies in June 1997. In that position, Massey managed marketing and sales efforts and the administration of the society's nationwide field force. He was appointed to Modern Woodmen's board of directors in 2002.
“Kenny brings experience, integrity and commitment to the position,” says Schoeck. “With enthusiasm and a strong work ethic, Kenny will lead employees and field representatives in our efforts to fulfill Modern Woodmen’s mission of improving the quality of life for our members and their communities.”
Coin named to board
Nick S. Coin, Rock Island, Ill., has been appointed to Modern Woodmen’s board of directors. Coin is the organization’s treasurer and investment manager.
Managing Modern Woodmen’s more than $7 billion in assets, Coin brings substantial investment experience and knowledge of the life insurance industry to his position on the board. A graduate of Northern Illinois University, Coin began his career with Modern Woodmen in 1968.
He has held various positions in the organization’s investment department, including manager of the securities division. He was named to his current position as treasurer and investment manager in 2002, and he will continue his duties in that office.
