Neighborhood volunteer event connects young people and adults
JOIN HANDS DAY scheduled for June 16
Most Americans know more about their favorite TV character than about the older or younger person next door. This lack of information leads to wrong ideas, mistrust and fear. On JOIN HANDS DAY, young people and adults across the country will work together on neighborhood improvement projects, develop friendships and get to know each other.
The only national day of service that develops youth/adult relationships through neighborhood volunteering, JOIN HANDS DAY is scheduled for Saturday, June 16. JOIN HANDS DAY is sponsored by America’s fraternal life insurance societies, including Modern Woodmen of America, along with the Points of Light Foundation and the Volunteer Center National Network.
Adult and youth organizations become partners for the entire JOIN HANDS DAY process, from the planning stages through the event, bridging the generation gap along the way. For more information about JOIN HANDS DAY, visit www.joinhandsday.org.
