Modern Woodmen of America awards $10,000 in technology equipment to West View Middle School
West View Middle School in Morristown, Tenn., has won $10,000 worth of technology equipment from Modern Woodmen of America. Modern Woodmen, an organization that offers fraternal financial services and supports community causes, chose West View at random from entrants registering online.
“This money will help West View Middle School provide new equipment for its students,” said Clyde Kinder, a Morristown Modern Woodmen representative. Kinder has donated Modern Woodmen’s Youth Educational Programs to West View for more than 20 years. “This is really exciting for the community and the school.”
While research shows that more than 60 percent of jobs today require technological competency, schools often don’t have the budget to provide cutting-edge technology equipment.
West View won from among more than 21,000 entrants in the giveaway. To be eligible, a school must have been involved in at least one of Modern Woodmen’s six Youth Educational Programs.
West View has been participating in Modern Woodmen’s School Speech Contest for 26 years.
Youth Educational Programs are provided at no charge to schools, youth groups and homeschoolers. Program topics include safety and life skills, ecology, civics, exercise and nutrition, and public speaking.
Founded in 1883, Modern Woodmen of America touches lives and secures futures. The fraternal benefit society offers financial services and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States.
