Plant A Tree Journal Entries Print

These journal entries were submitted by members who've already planted their trees.

Thank you for the beautiful wildlife tree set, they arrived in great condition. They were planted the day they arrived. The weather was cool and wet, a perfect moving-in day. We lost several pine trees in a wildlife area we have, these will grow up to fill that void.

We requested three Red Maples, one to represent each of my three children. Everyone enjoyed getting out and planting them. Each child has claimed a tree. They seem to be having some sort of competition to see which tree will grow the fastest. They got a recycled mulch circle to protect them from the weed eater and lawn mower. They have really enjoyed them and we hope to have more shade from them each year. Our neighbors up the street have Red Maples too and they are so beautiful in the fall. Thanks so much for helping us do something for the environment and teaching my children about caring for living plants.

When we bought our house 10 years ago, we had eight trees. Because of extreme weather conditions, we are now down to three trees. The flowering crab is in it's second full year and has doubled its size. It's going to be a beautiful tree. Thank you so much for this service to your members.

We built and moved to 20 acres seven and half years ago. I really don't know how many tree's we have received from Modern Woodmen but I would say around 25. Have not lost but probably three of them. I may not live long enough to see the tree's reach 25 to 30 feet but I trust my grandchildren will. Thank's MWA!

I planted the (first) tree in a temporary place until I could locate a permanent home. Unfortunately, it did not make it. Planted another tree in a fine home and it is doing great!

My granddaughter and I picked this tree out together from the brochure. We planted it together on the side of my garden hill to provide shade in the summer. Leaves actually grew on it and so far all is well.  It is fun to show her something we grew together. She like the leaves turning orange and the few that were on it did turn in the fall.

I planted the tree in a temporary place until I can locate a permanent home. I may even give it to a family member. I think this is an awesome program. Any chance to give back to the environment is wonderful!

Our grandson died in a car wreck on December 30, 2007. He was just getting a good start in life when he was taken from us, now we have a great little tree that is getting a good start. When we look at our tree we are reminded of our grandson & his two sons he left behind. Thank you so much for this chance to honor him.

My dad died from a heart attack last spring, very unexpectedly. My mom, my little sister, and I didnt get around to planting the tree last year because it was too painful for us. But we finally ordered it and planted it yesterday, and it was so soothing to remember my dad like that. We planted it near his garden, and put his name plaque underneath it. It looks beautiful, and I look forward to growing up and sitting under that tree with my mom and sister and remembering how amazing my dad was.

Last year I planted a maple in memory of my grandmother who taught me to give back and help others. This year I planted a Redbud as part of the Ecology Awareness Program. I wanted to give back to the Earth and enjoy the color.

We planted our redbud to celebrate our youngest son's first 2 years of life! We had also done this previously for our oldest son who is now 6 and loves to watch his tree grow with each passing year!

We just received our trees today and planted them right away. We had so much tree damage from the ice store, this was a nice way to put something back into the earth. We thank you very much for this opportunity.

We ordered the Red Maples to honor our youngest two boys. They helped us plant them and will often refer to them as their tree. These trees will add alot of great color to our lawn throughout the fall season. Thanks for a wonderful program!

Our family planted our trees in our backyard in memory of Isabelle Grace and Troy Dae whose birth and passing were at the same time. We will never forget how their few brief moments touched our lives.

My brother's home in Ocean Springs, Mississippi was flooded with 5 feet of water from Hurricane Katrina. He and his wife were heartbroken to have lost so many of their belongings. After they worked hard and practically repaired their whole house, I had just received the apple tree. I decided to give it to my bother to plant in his yard. Now he can have a beautiful tree growing where once there was so much devastation.
