National Day of Service and Remembrance, Sept 11
As part of the national "United We Serve" effort, Modern Woodmen of America members touched lives through the National Day of Service and Remembrance on Sept. 11, 2009.
National Day of Service and Remembrance, Rock Island

Rock Island, Ill.

Members specifically assisted fire and police departments nationwide, as a tribute to the sacrifices they made on Sept. 11, 2001, and to those that are made every day.

Each year, more than 61 million Americans volunteer in communities nationwide. In 2008, Modern Woodmen members alone donated more than 1.7 million volunteer hours.

The concept of service is not new to Modern Woodmen. Members have made an impact in their communities for 126 years.
