Serving Our Communities is an ongoing program that rewards youth service club members for their continued volunteer service efforts. This program offers incentives for members to devote more time to community service.
What are volunteer service hours? Members earn volunteer service hours when they do something for someone else and don’t receive payment in return. Hours can be earned through individual or club projects, such as getting the mail for an elderly neighbor or maintaining a recycling project at school.
Reasons to participate The Serving Our Communities program is good for kids, clubs and communities because it’s fun and easy, and it:
- Provides recognition and incentives for young volunteers
- Allows kids to learn respect for themselves and their communities
- Looks good on college scholarship applications and job resumes
- Supports America’s Promise, an alliance of organizations formed to enhance youth programs in America
- Improves communities nationwide
Incentives Based on the number of service hours they complete, Modern Woodmen rewards members for their volunteer efforts with hats, pins, certificates, plaques and trophies. Club members who complete over 1,000 hours can be featured in our
Club Connection Newsletter.
