One less worry

Giving birth to an infant in poor health is one of the scariest things a new parent may face. Modern Woodmen's Newborn Benefit can’t take the scary away, but it can lessen some financial anxiety.

Modern Woodmen members who have infants born in poor health can apply for $5,000 of permanent life insurance for their child.* The coverage is issued at standard rates – regardless of health – and becomes effective no later than the newborn’s 181st day of life.

In case of tragedy before the newborn’s 181st day of life, the benefit provides $5,000 to help with medical or funeral costs.**

Additional coverage options

The Newborn Benefit helps ensure members can obtain permanent life insurance coverage for their newborns … regardless of their current health. It also ensures they can obtain additional coverage later … regardless of their future health.

If the family keeps the child’s life insurance in force, they can purchase additional coverage at stated ages – again at standard rates and regardless of health.

• $5,000 of additional coverage at age 16.
• $10,000 of additional coverage at age 21.

Do I qualify?

• At least one legal parent must be a member, covered by Modern Woodmen life insurance for six months prior to the child’s birth.
• For the guaranteed life insurance benefit: The newborn must be between 5 and 180 days old at application.
• For the death benefit: The newborn must live for 5 full days but less than 180 days.
